"Did you quit Lost Ark?" or "Why did you quit" is a question I get frequently on my stream so its best to address it here so I can link to it.
Short answer, I am taking an indefinite break. Could be 1 month, could be 3 months (Elgacia / Kayangel release), or perhaps not at all (might get too busy with IRL).
Long answer (includes why):
I played for almost 2 years straight, shortly after Argos released in KR in ~Sep 2020. I maintained 12 characters as a F2P for about 14 months then I swiped to get a full roster of 21 characters all at Valtan level (mostly to showcase gameplay for youtube). At this point I was playing the game an absurd amount and I think I was starting to feel the burn hard here. 21 Valtans, 21 Argos, 12 Vykas, 6 Kakuls, 6 Brelshaza's. Not to mention all the chaos and guardian raids, I didn't even have time to do more than 6 at the time. The 6 character gold nerf was kind of a blessing, but punished anyone who didn't make alts on other servers HARD. I imagine some hardcore players on NA/EU maintain multiple rosters on different servers now, I both respect and fear these people.
I played a lot. A lot a lot. I'm burnt out. The past couple of months I found myself only still playing because my friends were playing, and once they quit because they had to focus on real life I lost all of my will to play. Truthfully I was burnt out of the game during the NA launch because it was not the ideal launch at all; bot infestation, NAW not linked with NAE; unoptimised laggy client compared to KR; and no T1/T2 catchup. But losing my friends who I had spent the better part of 2 years playing day in and day out with hit me hard after they had gone. I miss them dearly and it has been difficult to fill the void.
Still, I love the game. I've never played a game over such a long period of time without stopping. It says volumes about how good this game is. However, at this point I would never recommend this game to any of my friends in good faith at this point for various reasons. Despite this, I don't regret a single second I spent playing this game. It was all worth it. I may outline the reasons in a video but that is beyond the topic of this post, this is just to let people know what I'm up to.
That being said, if you're still playing and enjoying the game that is awesome. Embrace your friends and do not take them for granted. When you've done your 400th Valtan/Vykas and 100th Kakul and 50th brelshaza you realise spending time with them is the only thing that matters. Brelshaza is a fantastic raid (especially on hard) as is the Elgacia story, as is the Kayangel abyss dungeon, as is Akkan. If you make it that far, you are in for a treat.
I do hope to come back to NA soon to play with all the friends I made there and my community. In the mean time I am enjoying my time catching up on games I missed out the last few years and uploading random gameplay clips on my channel as I always have. Sometimes I might provide my impressions of a new game or something I've been playing too.
Thank you for giving me your time, I am sorry if I disappointed anyone by not releasing more Lost Ark content.
Sincerely,
Endie
